Orscheln Farm and Home is expanding its footprint in Northeast Arkansas.

Orscheln Farm and Home is building a new store in Trumann, according to Haag Brown Commercial Real Estate and Development.

A project of this size in Jonesboro will have a small impact, Brown said. In Trumann, it is a different story.

“Any time you can build a project as big as this in a city like Trumann, it’s a really big deal for the city,” Josh Brown, co-owner of Haag Brown, said.

The store is giving work to contractors from Trumann, will create retail jobs and be an extra source of sales tax revenue, Brown said.

“We feel like it will be an asset to the residents and the city,” Barbara Lewallen, director of economic development in Trumann, said.

The store will be built next to Walmart on Arkansas 214. Construction is expected to be finished by the end of the year. The Orscheln store will be about 32,000 square foot building.

The plot of land that Orscheln will be constructed on is about 10 acres and will have room for two other businesses.

No other businesses are confirmed for the 10 acre project, but several restaurants and a medical project are possibilities, Brown said.

Tractor Supply Company is the only real competition for Orscheln in Trumann, Brown said. The nearest Tractor Supply is in Jonesboro. Orscheln targeted Trumann and Jonesboro through research, Brown said.

Orscheln, based in Missouri, offers a range of supplies. It caters to basic household needs and repairs, sells pet grooming supplies, provides the necessary wares for ranchers and can keep a lawn and garden well trimmed.
