SUMO JAPANESE STEAKHOUSE COMING TO FORT SMITH

Haag Brown Commercial is excited to announce that Sumo Japanese Steakhouse has been added to Phoenix Flyover, Fort Smith’s newest and most exciting retail development located between Academy Sports and the Target-anchored Pavilion development.

Blue Point Investments Group purchased a 2.71 acre lot from KMW Properties, LLC on May 19. This property has frontage along I-540 and is adjacent to the new Starbucks center.

Joshua Brown and Greg Haag, principal developers for Haag Brown Commercial Real Estate & Development, worked alongside Jim Nunnelee of Nunnelee & Wright Commercial Properties, who represented the Hanna family. Jim Nunnelee and Bill Hanna were both vital in bringing this project to fruition.

“This deal was only possible through the willingness of the Hanna family and their desire to see the continued surge of development in this area of Fort Smith. We have had the privilege of helping Sumo enter several markets, where they’ve become an instant area attraction with their amazing food and elegant, modern atmosphere.  We expect them to add unparalleled value to this development,” noted Joshua Brown.

With its excellent interstate visibility, easy accessibility and high traffic counts, the location is expected to be ideal for retail business and greatly contribute to the continued growth of the area.

Sumo will be using the same architectural design for their restaurant in Fort Smith as the restaurants developed in Jonesboro and Russellville, AR which feature several hibachi grills, as well as, private hibachi and dining rooms.

Principal Developer Greg Haag stated, “Over the course of the past few years, we have had numerous clients express an interest in Fort Smith, but the availability of the right land was always a problem. This acreage was good real estate on day one and putting together several national brand retailers and restaurants on the site made it great.”

Construction is set to begin on the Sumo site in 2018.
